Default Necromancer/Mesmer junk.

I just started a Necromancer/Mesmer, and I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any decent guides for someone with this character build. Any and all Necromancer/Mesmer information would be very handy.

Thanks a lot.

Just started? Like level 2? heh.

Mesmers come into their own at higher skill levels, and so do Necros, but not to the extent of mesmers.

What I would do is up until lvl 10, focus on the necro abilities, and then later start working some really good mesmer tricks, since many lvl 10 and up mobs use hexes and mesmers have all the counters.

A few mesmer abilities makes the first few levels real easy... like empathy (which redirects damage back to the source)... great way to kill of those tough elementals by watching them kill themselves.

As for many necro abilities, that I am not an expert on, but my Monk/Mesmer (now at lvl 17) can REALLY be annoying with the mesmer spells I use , which is good for me.

Just started, as in level 5. I've got a basic grasp of the game, thanks to the friend who lets me play his copy every now and then.

Are you saying I should remake my character as a Mesmer/Necro? It sounds like playing that way would give me some more options.

Nah, not at all. Play what you like... I was just mentioning that mesmer comes into it's won once you actually get a few useful spells down the line.

And the mesmer fast cast primary is nothing to write home about, so I would go with something else anyway.

For lvling purposes, concentrating on your necro abilities, namely death, is the way to go. You can just keep summoning more minions as mobs die and you get an ability to consume corpses for a big heal once you get your skill up and you also get a very nice AE...deathly swarm. I have an ele/nec and this is how I'm going through the lvls, with ease I must say.

You are probably much past this already. However, I had a lot of success with hexing to death. I used curses from the nec and domination/illusion I think. Basically Soul Barbs does +17dmg or so whenever a hex is cast. Faintheartedness goes on first against Warriors, Backfire against casters. Life steals are hexes, conjure phantasm is a hex, that almost can be recast as soon as it ends, and does a LOT of health degen at early levels. Basically I just piled on the hexes. It worked REALLY WELL for focus fire fights.

Good luck.

I've spent most of my points in Blood Magic. Here's my normal sequence of events:

Blood Renewal
Life Siphon
Vampiric Gaze
Vampiric Touch

At this point they're usually dead.

In the case of harder mobs, I'll use my secondary monk ability "Bane", which is a pretty hefty DD. And in the case of multiple mobs, a combination of Deadly Swarm, Animate Bone Horror, and (monk)Reversal of Fortune seems to do the trick.

Although I'm still only pre-searing, but I've soloed practically everything I've come in contact with. Monk Bane with Vampiric touch and vampiric Gaze is usually a 2-3 shot killer.

Yeah, my N/R is level 14. I still use vampiric gaze and life siphon on each mission. The more you put to blood magic will really do some serious damage while healing you!

I generally don't use the touch based skills as with my ranger secondary, I perfer the missle attack of my bow to melee.

I don't know much about the Mesmers, but I will definately try a build after I get my N/R and my W/E ascended. Probably with a monk secondary.....
